New Book
To have sat across from you for 60 minutes; 3,600 seconds ... out of the 24 hours. To laugh and just be present for a moment, would have made this full circle. However, I understand the hesitancy and the decision to retract the invitation the other night. We will always have the moments that make up our story. I just wanted one more to mark the finale of this book. You standing in some of my favourite spots in my city will have to do. This weekend, I will make sure to take in the seawall with a different perspective, knowing that you stood there not too long ago.
It’s a strange and beautiful thing to walk where you walk, to stand in the places that hold pieces of you. To imagine the world through your eyes, if only for a moment. Once, you saw through mine too.
ReplyDeleteThat breeze along the seawall it brought a stillness I didn’t know I needed. And in that quiet, I whispered, “I’m sorry.” Because I am. And I always will be.
Chapters end. They’re meant to. But the pages we wrote together will never fade. Our story stretched across continents. We grew up side by side… and now, we grow old apart. And somehow, that’s okay.
If sorrow has a sound, it echoes in every moment I didn’t make right. Know that I have never stopped aching for the hurt I caused.
We will always have our story. And it was beautiful. I am glad you saw this beautiful city and walked some of my favourite parts. The seawall is my favourite.
ReplyDeleteApology accepted. Time is precious. Enjoy the moments to come in the new book.
