Eulogy

Matthew 19:14

But Jesus said, “Let the little children come to me and do not hinder them, for to such belongs the kingdom of heaven.”


We all knew this beautiful being by one name or another. 


It is with the heaviest heart that we have to say goodbye to an incredible human today. As an artist, a friend, a brother and a son, [he] was special to all of us in so many ways.  


[His] light burned bright for 25 years. When you leave today, remember how he was. How he left you feeling when you spent time together. How the moments you shared were special and brought joy to your life and his. 


Let his life not be in vain. If there is one thing he would want us to remember is this: to live life fully. Take the chances. Love fiercely. Laugh a lot. Cherish the moments together. 


Music was at the centre of [his] being - through dance, performance and being a musician. I hope when you leave here today, he continues to influence you through his music. I leave you with these last lyrics by our dear [one]:


Lifestyle unpredictable, but I’ll be fine

Diamond under pressure, wanna fool you can’t top mine

Got these residuals to earn, can’t knock the grind

Airplane mode on, moving on a different type of time …


... you are loved, so deeply, and I am sure I speak for all your family and friends here when I say,  we will each be forever grateful for every moment we got to spend with you. 


We may have lost a soul here on earth but heaven has gained an angel.

You. You played your part. But, I also played mine too. I never realized that my time was running out, until you pulled the rug from under me. Until I realized that there was no going back. There was a time when I would call, and even if you didn't answer, I knew you would call back. Now, I deleted your number, erased most of the emails we shared, and despite how I hate you, I still have that stupid picture from our time in Vegas. I was stupid. You made me stupid. I believed you and yet, you broke up. You broke me and I never truly healed. I have tried to move on, and have had somewhat of a decent experience of getting over you. But when you creep into my life in ways that make you almost undetectable, I feel you. I see you. I see it there in plain sight. You went on with your life. Married. Wife. Kid and the dog. You gave her what you had once upon a time promised me. Life. You broke me. But one day, I will be alright.
